I'm putting this here as I assume he'll be placed in one of the minor league teams.

Dan Straily is signing a minor league (split deal) with the Cubs per source pending physical I had no idea he was still pitching. doesn't look promising though , brief and sketchy numbers in the minors last season and nothing in the majors since 2019

At first glance it looked like, just another loss for Palencia ( Started the game). At 2nd glance: Faced 10 Batters / 2.2 IP / 6K-0BB / 1 GO (SS) / 1 PO (1B) / 1 HR 97mph Sinker / 97- 98 Fastball / Slider inconsistent, but wasn't getting touched, either. ICYMI: That's a pace of 20 K's per 9 IP 1st Hit was a no doubter, HR. (98mph Fastball) Broke a string of 4 consecutive K's. 2nd Hit was a comebacker, off Palencia's glove - Throw missed by Murray. (H & E3) Palencia left with the scored tied (1-1) 51 Pitches - 33 Strikes. Announcers raved about him for the next 2 Innings. Unearned Run scored, after he left the game (WP). Escobar blows up, afterward - And Palencia is tagged with the loss.

Cubs signed 24-year old righty Nico Zeglin out of Mexico. been assigned to Myrtle Beach. I know they probably scout the Mexican league anyway , but the previous guy they signed yesterday was on Bauers team .......could the Cubs actually be down there scouting Bauer ? Kind of interesting that they just plucked two pitchers from the Mexican league

Then Bauer will get a call. It's only a matter of time. Winning is a cure-all and fans can be very forgiving where winning is concerned.

Maybe , but there is nothing really to be forgiving about , he was set up and although not all people know it , some just feel he's guilty by accusation , it should not be real big PR damage control to set people straight. That's why I keep going back to thinking he's been blackballed because he should be on a team right now . I know he brings other baggage that I said even before this happened that a lot of teams don't want to deal with his antics , but when you can get one of the better pitchers in the entire game on a league minimum contract , how is he not signed? Even a team who is not a contender should grab him and use him as trade deadline currency.

Alfonsin Rosario made his debut last night. He was (0-3) with 2 Strikeouts. The Starter for the Hillcats (Matt Wilkinson) has an ERA of 0.44He has 41 K's in 20.2 IP. He got both of Rosario's Strikeouts. In fact, he Struck Out the first 7 Pelicans, to start the game. In total, he Struck Out 15 of the 19 Batters he faced. Oh and BTW: He threw a No Hitter through 6 (Removed). Pop Up Walk Fly Out Fly Out No Hitter broken up (in the 8th, with 1 out) -- After Rosario flew out Christopher Paciolla (2B - Blooper that the RF dove for and came up empty). 20 K's total - For the Hillcats

The stuff he’s gone through the past 2 years has to have changed his outlook in general you would think for the better. I’d use him as a starter but with his pure stuff & mid 90’s fastball can you imagine him as a closer - probably throwing 98-99 with control? I sure can..

I’d use him as a starter but with his pure stuff & mid 90’s fastball can you imagine him as a closer - probably throwing 98-99 with control? I sure can.. Watched a video of him throwing an immaculate inning against the Braves. Not those Braves. Anyhow, he's not quite where he wants to be, so that probably means minor leagues for a while. In that amount of time the big bullpen might sort itself out and if Adbert is still Adbert, we have someone down there with experience and success.
I got the feeling that he's angling toward being a starter again, so closer might not be worth talking to him about. We would need Tony Robbins to sell that to him.
On the other hand, I have grabbed parts from the "used but good" pile plenty of times in a previous career and they worked as good as new replacing those which have suffered catastrophic failure, so I wouldn't complain if they did happen to sign him intending to use him wherever they have a need if he's agreeable.
