#Cubs say Morrow threw a side session earlier this week and felt good pitching, but the recovery wasn't what it should be. This is similar to what he was experiencing last year. He will be shut down for a period & his timeline is unknown.

I wish I could say I was surprised but if you couldn't see this coming right when they signing was made then you were blindly optimistic.

Bummer , but not really surprised because this rehab was just taking way too long.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhocking!!!!!!!!!!
Morrow just needs to call it a career so the Cubs can collect the insurance money so they can find somebody else.

The market for Craig Kimbrel keeps improving. The Braves, Brewers and now the Cubs could all use him.

Kimbrel is too healthy for Theo to be interested.

All three could have used him as soon as free agency opened so I don't see how his market is improving. I get what you are saying, all three have injury issues which make him more of a fit than even before, but nobody seems anxious to sign him. None wanted to pay anything near what he wanted before and now that he's reportedly finally lowered demands , it's still puzzling why he is not a Brewer or Brave already. The problem is , how long is it going to take him to get into game shape and be sharp. You sign him now, when can you expect him to start helping you ?

You have to at least give him a month, you don’t want to rush him like the Cardinals did with Holland last year. Anyhow , I don’t see the Cubs going after Kimbrel anyways, he his AAV will likely put the Cubs over the 3rd tier and drop 10 spots in the draft and also having to give up a comp pick too, that is just not going to happen. I see the Cubs going after Will Smith or Tony Watson or even both

The Cubs alone lost 2 pieces, Morrow to injury and Edwards to inconsistency. I would imagine Kimbrel's been working out and, being a reliever, I think he could be in game-shape fairly quickly.

The thing is, he's still got the draft pick comp attached to him until after the draft , so from what I read , that is what is keeping the Braves from signing him because with the IFA restrictions they are under they hold high value in their draft picks. I really don't know why the Brewers have not stepped up and signed him. They are going to kill Hader, and then it'snot going to matter , they'll be done. the horsehsoe they had up their ass with their pitching last season has fallen out.

I'm sure he's in shape and has been working out and on a throwing program. But it's not the same as facing live game hitters and situations.

Brewers were on him, but only if Jefferes has setbacks with his shoulder which appears is he now fully recovered from, Brewers likely changing direction to Keuchel now is my guess. Braves are so loaded with prospects that so kind of find it silly they are unwilling to give up one comp pick for Kimbrel, I think the Braves are just being cheap So that leaves the Cubs and would have to get very creative to sign him, the price will still need to drop more, wait until after the draft and get clever with something like they did with Fowler a couple years ago which give Kimbrel something like 7 millions deal with a 5 million opt out clause for next season to keep the AAV from going over. So pretty much Kimbrel has to fall in the Cubs lap perfectly to make it happen and I just don’t see it

Not a surprise at all. I would be surprised if he contributed much of anything at all this year. They also do not need to sign Kimbrel. That would be compounding a bad signing with another bad signing. Cubs have some big issues now with the wasted bucks they are shelling out. They are going to have to figure it out with what they have, for better or worse.

I have a bad feeling Morrow is done for the year. I also have a bad feeling Lester is out till Mid-May Yousa. Were you at Star Wars Celebration this year in Chicago? Those are two pretty "bad feelings". Hope you're wrong. The Cubs have been nothing but patient with Morrow. We cannot afford him to be out all year.
