I'll go with Kris Bryant.
His versatility and offensive ability give him the edge, for me.

I am going to go with a less popular choice: Jason Hammel

This is a tough one... I'm tempted to say Zobrist, although Fowler was a huge reason for their success early on. Zobrist has probably been their best offensve player so I'll go with him. Bryant is a close 2nd.
Hard for me to say it's been a starting pitcher for the same reasons that a starting pitcher generally doesn't win league MVP honors.
Let's hope Rizzo heats up soon and becomes the no-doubt MVP of this team again.

I say Ben Zorbist,,Followed By Jake. Tough call man. Right now I'd say 1) Zobrist , right now he'd be a solid candidate for the league MVP 1st in OBP, 3rd in AVG , 7th in RBI's 2)Arrieta 3)Fowler 4) Bryant 5)Hammel and a guy that is 1 away from the league lead in RBI's , Rizzo isn't even a thought right now. Bryant by the way just caught Rizzo with 35

1A. Clayton Richards 1B. Ben Zobrist 2. Kris Bryant 3. Dexter Fowler 4. Jake Arrieta 5. Jason Hammel 6. Jon Lester 7. David Ross 8. Addison Russell 9. Anthony Rizzo 10. Kyle Hendricks 11. Adam Warren 12. Hector Rondon
When you're the best team in the league and your best offensive player, evident by third place in MVP voting, is your current ninth best player you know you're having a good season!
Someone get Clayton Richards a bag of those try not to suck shirts and make him wear them 24/7!

Great thing that they have so many guys who from time to time can carry the team.

Ben Zobrist
Interestingly, my nearby Jewel store is selling a Cubs t-shirt with 6 current Cubs pictures on it. No Zobrist.

This is really a no brainer.....one through three. If you look at it and watched the games
1) Arrieta 2) Zobrist 3) Fowler.......he kept this team elite while a lot of guys were hitting .200 while we went on a tear.

No arguments on the multiple names on this list ... and don't think I'm crazy or anything but one of the first names that popped into my head was actually David Ross. No, he's not your MVP, i haven't gone mad. But did anybody expect this level of offensive output from him? As always, his behind-the-plate and in-the-dugout / clubhouse leadership is top notch.

Definitely understand the zobrist, arrieta, and bryant. But fowler was the main reason for our unreal start. He is coming down to earth but that megastart we had-he was mvp. Look for bryant to be huge the rest of the reason.

You are right Ross deserves a lot of credit. We aren't in the clubhouse but yeah he haves an impact beyond d the diamond that we aren't privy to.

There's got to be a reason Heyward got him a suite for every road game this season. That's got to be 40K at least. He means a lot more to some guys than the stats show.

Just to reiterate, he is not the MVP, but man, he is much more valuable than I would've guessed on a very talent-laden team. He has surpassed expectations thus far, and I hope it continues during this farewell tour of his. Seems like a great guy who loves baseball. Really like him on the Cubs.

I say Ben Zorbist,,Followed By Jake. We've got 4 guys that would be hard to argue against but honestly there is no single guy that is "the one" & that is a wonderful situation. Jake & BenZo (tie), Rizzo, Bryant & Fowler (tie) Hammel (hon. mention). Awesome..

Bryant has quietly been having a great season. On pace for 30+ home runs, 35+ doubles, 120+ RBI's
