Horton done for the season according to Twitter reports Setback from original shoulder issues. Really bad news, good chance surgery to repair it is in his future

Giving me Mark Prior vibes all over again. I hate to hear setbacks with shoulder issues. Elbows and TJ they often get up ticks in velocity, shoulders the opposite.

I hate to hear setbacks with shoulder issues. Elbows and TJ they often get up ticks in velocity, shoulders the opposite. Not that I'm really advocating that Horton should have been brought up this year. But this kind of plays into my argument that it's better to bring up arms sooner rather than later.
A lot of times, I think you are wasting pitches in the minors that eventually lead to significant surgery, when those pitches could have been made in the majors.
If you subscribe to the theory that pitchers have X number of pitches to throw before succumbing to some type of arm injury, then doesn't it make sense to have some of those X pitches thrown in the majors? Assuming they can get major league hitters out.
I'm not necessarily going all in on this argument, but it does provide food for thought.

I hear you , I don't feel that way for just any pitcher but a guy like Horton who already has big league stuff and not a lot to work on should not waste a lot of pitches in the minors, all of them with the way they through these days are ticking time bombs.

Where is my 2nd ranked/fav prospect Cristian Hernandez? Maybe he has an agreement that he'd rather be playing in Myrtle Beach instead of in Indiana ?

I'm worried about Wicks. A good 1st inning, then hammered for 3 homeruns in his second inning of work, that he couldn't finish.

This was a very restricted pitch count year after the TJ so in this instance I think they had to keep him in the minors. Hopefully he just begins his throwing program in a month or so & he’s back on track.
