Brennen Davis on the IL with a back fracture, they said he will miss significant amount of time and have no timeline for his return. 3rd straight year his back cost him the season, does not sound like his back is going to allow him to have a MLB career. dude just cant stay healthy Sad , when he was finally healthy for the brief period this season he was living up to his potential.

Kilian headed to South Bend for a rehab assignment. Will pitch tonight Not a good outing .2ip 3er x.com/i/status/1808302350127280259Kilian missed with practically every Slider/Breaking Ball he threw. However, his Fastball was clocked @ 100mph on a couple occasions. Both Hits were legitimate, 1st Pitch Line Drives. The 2nd hit came on a 90mph Floater. That hit knocked in a Run, as the CF didn't have what it takes to throw out the Runner. A good throw would have had him, easily. But I guess that's why the guy was running, in the first place. After a 100mph Strikeout, Kilian shattered a bat @ 97mph (announced @ 98.6) The 1B came Home for the Force Out, but he threw it wide and pulled the Catcher off the bag. No Error (FC). But it was an easy out, that got away. And the 2nd Run. Followed by a 98.6mph Swinging Strikeout. The 3rd Run came after Kilian left the game and Cabrea Hit a Batter, on a pitch that bounced in the dirt. The Stats say disaster. The eyes say success. Kilian makes his 2024 debut, throwing harder than he ever has. We'll see how it goes from here, but look for Kilian in Chicago.

Didn't he have a fairly mediocre spring? Assuming this is true, why not some sustained success instead of promoting him for having a hot streak? Don't get me wrong, I like seeing guys move through the system, I just don't like it to feel rushed.

Nice wanna see the Cubs get more aggressive with pitching promotions. If they sell, trade out some pen for whatever and give spots to some of the minor league flame throwers, have had enough of 91-93 mph arms when other teams are trotting out high velo on a regular basis.

I hope he gets command of his stuff and gets called up but I hope he doesn't look like a deer in headlights again.

Don't get me wrong, I like seeing guys move through the system, I just don't like it to feel rushed. It's really not just a hot streak , his other numbers aside from the old school one were very good all season and he was hitting in a lot of bad luck and he still climbed in the prospect rankings. I don't think he's being rushed, I thought there was a decent chance he would have started 2024 in AAA .

And this is why I'd be ok if the Cubs decided to trade Hoerner , and Traintos has already matched his career high in homers and he is 29 for 34 in stolen bases.
