Wow, 5 years already. Like the article said, the "injury" should pop up any time now so he can be sent on a rehab outing. I feel bad for the guy. But I especially feel bad for the Cardinal fan base. Those classy fans have had so darn much bad luck this seas....Bwahahahaha! Sorry, I couldn't finish that sentence without cracking up.

And he won't say so because right now he has 5 years service time and can be a free agent in 2024 if he gets in a full season .

That shocks the heck out of me why he’s struggling.. He has been declining since beginning of 2022 season and had just gotten worse and worse. Maybe it will help Soto to be more aggressive at the plate? tough to figure out what is going on right now.

He had a .489 slugging percentage & a 159 OPS+ with the Nats before the trade with an OBP over .400 but then fell off a cliff with SD. Very odd the change that took place.

I've been amazed over the decade or so how the Cardinals have escaped scrutiny with how they've handled young pitching. They've had so much young talent come up in that 21-24 age range, experience great early successes, and then just never recapture it. They get a couple of good years out of them then move along. Kudos to them for having that much talent in the system to keep replenishing it to the point that they treat it almost as being expendable, but so many promising young careers have been derailed. Shelby Miller, Jaime Garcia, Trevor Rosenthal, Michael Wacha, Carlos Martinez, Dakota Hudson, and now Jack Flaherty and Hicks. All such promising arms that experienced early success and faded off after several years, yet the team and front office never gets called into question over it.

Nobody caught JHey flopping around in center earlier this week? There is a video of it that I can't get on here from my phone but it's out there. He looked like a little league kid as the ball was lined at him he ran back and as he turned the ball ate him up and he went over like Charlie Brown and then while lying down scrambled for the ball but it got past him. Not exactly the GG performance he is known for but it was pretty hilarious. Not missing him at all these days.

This? Corner outfield spots can be tough with a well hit ball into the gap with hook spin. You're sprinting to catch up to it, all while it's turning against you. When you turn from running to the side to back pedaling, as he did, it's easy to lose your balance or eye level. Still a play you expect him to make.

Jose Abreu at 3 years well dodged by the FO

Jose Abreu at 3 years well dodged by the FO Right now it’s looking like it, but I’ll hold off on that for another month at least. Abreu is a notoriously slow starter with April being by far his worst month statistically. After April, however, his numbers skyrocket. It’s definitely a big concern on his slugging though, which is almost non-existent, but considering his career trends and that we are still in small sample size territory where a really hot series can dramatically change a stat line, I’m holding off on that judgement for now. He’ll need to do his usual 180 mega jump the second May+ hits to start garnering more faith though.

Earlier today Pittsburgh extended their golden boy Bryan Reynolds to an 8/106.75 extension. Pittsburgh is off to a division best 16-7 start and they currently lead the Dodgers 7-5 in the top of the 7th. Are we seeing a new era of Pirates baseball here?
On the flip side, Milwaukee has lost two of their top young outfielders to the IL: Mitchell and Frelick. Both are expected to miss at minimum 8 weeks. The Brewers (15-8) currently trail the Tigers 4-0 in the top of the 3rd.
