If anything the basic splits tell me we have been a far better team in pitching and marginally better hitting. The record proves it (21-10 Home, 11-16 Away) but fielding is a little more difficult to decipher. I hope to update after each consecutive road trip together.

Hendricks and Alzolay (at this point our only two reliable starters) have been neutral.
Davies has an ERA of three runs higher, Arrieta four runs higher, Trevor Williams almost 5!
The back end of our rotation has pretty much been a disaster despite the Cubs managing to win games.
I always take West Coast trips with a grain of salt given that the Cubs play a lot of day/early afternoon games in addition to the early start times in Pittsburgh and Cincy. St. Louis had the benefit of going out West and taking on the Diamondbacks first before taking on the Dodgers. The Cubs flew out and immediately had to face a significantly tougher Giants team who really have not been traveling and had the benefit of an off day prior to the series.
The Cardinals gave up a lot of runs to a middle of the road offensively Diamondbacks team... They just had the benefit of facing some truly awful Dbacks pitching as well.
Sometimes it's not just who you play but how the schedule stacks up... Cubs kind of got fucked with their schedule.

Peaks and valleys with every teams schedule. Case in point was the Cubs very easy May schedule (mainly the last sentence of your post).
