The Yankees get swept by the Rays. Yankees remain further out of 1st than any other non NL West team in baseball. Yanks lose their 5th in a row. Even the incomparable Gerrit Cole (2-0 / 1.82) could not stop the slide.
Jay Bruce: .118 Rougned Odor: .125 Aaron Hicks: .160 Clint Frazier: .167 Giancalro Stanton: .176 Gleyber Torres: .196
Yu Darvish has 1 victory this year (1-1). Last night, he walked the pitcher (Kershaw) and gave up the go ahead run.
If great pitchers like Gerrit Cole (2), Jacob Degrom (1) Aaron Nola (1), Walker Buehler (1) & Yu Darvish (1) aren't auto wins... And given the offensive production the Cubs have shown to date... How many more wins do you think the Cubs would have if Darvish hadn't been traded?
And who was it that said Mookie Betts wasn't that great of an outfielder because "it's easy to play right field in Fenway"? Come on. Fess up. Who was it?

wow! those numbers look like the Cubs numbers. glad see other teams struggling just as much Yesterday, they stated that the average MLB hitter is hitting .235 this year. Unreal era of 100 mph pitching. The Yankees are 5-10 The Braves are 6-9 The Twins are 6-8 The Astros are 7-7 The Rays are 8-8 The Royals are in 1st The Angels are in 1st The Reds are in 1st The Mets are in 1st Last year, the Dodgers were a .717 Ballclub. This year, they're playing .867 Ball and currently have 4 Starters with an ERA under 2.50

Woodruff, Hader and Brewers hold mighty Padres to 2 Hits. Musgrove (1.04) takes the loss. Woodruff (1.96) gets 1st win. 6IP / 1H / 1R / 7K Hader still 0.00 NL Central travels and beats NL West.

Rumors are the balls are not as juiced which doesn’t help the offense.
Time to forget about using the traditional slash lines or even OPS. WRC+ which factors in the relative performance of the hitters is the way to go.
I think the game is becoming much more one dimensional than before. From the hitting side, it’s about home run or nothing. From the pitching side, you emphasize on high velocity (because hitters don’t make contact). You don’t see Tony Gwynn type of hitting anymore.

MLB admitted they changed the ball this year, but they were not juiced before. lol The game is becoming more one dimensional but all sports are due to sabermetrics aspect, NBA is all about hacking 3's and playing little defense, NFL is all about throwing the ball and the days of the dominate running back is rare as they are more like receivers now too. The Pandora box is open on this one and no way to put it back, some might think this is a good thing but some will not it just depends on how you take it. With baseball, gaining interest with this all or nothing approach is going to be very difficult and I kind of understand more on why moving he mound back a foot now, but if they want to get rid of the all or nothing approach at the plate then they need to limit the shift as well. Some changes are going to be needed or people are going to start tuning out baseball. I even got to admit, the game is getting a little boring to watch this year, but at the same time watching the Cubs play so far has not really been exciting to watch either.

Home runs are obviously way up. Batting averages are a little down. Strikeouts are waaaaaaaay up. Stolen bases were a big deal back in the 1800's apparently. Same w/ triples. Actually 1800's baseball looks fun as hell. Batters got caught stealing a lot in the 1910's and 1920's. They also had high batting averages and obp. Pretty cool. There are more hit by pitches per game so far this year than any other year in the history of baseball.

Jose Quintana signed with the Angels in late January for $8M. Tonight, after an 11 day layoff, he'll be making his 3rd start. I'm thinking he'll be trying to lower his ERA below the current 16.20? 2X Defending Divisional Champion Twins - Last Place: Got shut-out twice in one day by the A's yesterday (7 Inning Games). Garver .190 Jeffers .174 Polanco .167 Sano .111 Jeffers .174 Rooker .059 So I looked around the box scores and it's pretty much everywhere. Even the Dodgers. Line-ups riddled with hitters hitting under .222 Speaking of the A's: Lost 7 of their first 8. Now have won 10 in a row? The Dodgers threw a 1 Hitter (14 K's) against the formerly 1st Place Mariners. Mariners & Angels now chasing the A's... Again. Urias joins the club, lowering his ERA below 3.00. The 5th Dodger Starter to do so. The Nats beat the Cards 3-2 last night by scoring 2 Runs in their final at bat. Uncle Charlie remains winless. Schwarb-O-Meter: .216
Brad Hand: $10.5M / 5 games / 0.00 (Last year - AL Saves Leader) The Braves: Last Place 13 Runs one day... 1 Run the next. It must be nice to throw 100? Ohtani: 4 IP / 1 H / 6 BB / 1 HBP / 80P - 37 Strikes / 0 R After a chest-pumping, stick it in your ear, (6-1) start... The Astros are 1-8 in their last 9. And they won that game, 1-0 Last night they lost to the lowly Rockies at a frigid Coors Field. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys. Speaking of Colorado frigid, my ex got 12" of snow at her home in the foothills. denver.cbslocal.com/2021/04/21/denver-weather-more-snow-second-winter-continues-colorado/

Our old pal Kintzler got rocked today in Philly. Gave up a 3 run bomb and a 3 run lead to the homer happy Giants. They now lead the league with 26 bombs, 3 of them pinch hit homers, which this one was.

Bumgarner is the first to throw a 7 inning no hitter. It will not be counted as an official no hitter, but still fun to see
