I wish Brennen Davis (HR) was at South Bend, with the big boys. But then, we'd never hear a thing about his progress. For some reason, the Alt Site games are a big secret? Nothing like trying to keep the fans in the dark and keeping interest at a minimum. Because, you know, Baseball just has so much interest with the younger generation these days.

From Az Phil: Tennessee - "AA"
"But RHRP Robert Stock was the highlight of the day pitching-wise, throwing two shutout innings and striking out four (swinging). He threw 28 pitches (75% strikes!) including 12 FB and 16 SL, and all 12 FB were 99 MPH or better (five at 99, four at 100, and three 101 MPH). Stock was claimed off waivers by the Cubs from the Boston Red Sox last December, and was sent outright to the minors in March."
"Brennen Davis left the game after being hit on the side of his face with a pitch. He was on his hands and knees for a couple of minutes before leaving under his own power, but there was quite a bit of blood left behind on home plate."

ALT Site Update:
Cubs Win Final Alt-Site Game at Four Winds Field, 6-2 Over Sox Strong Start from Abbott and a Balanced Offense Leads Cubs Over White Sox
Patrick Wisdom went 2-3 with a home run in the final Triple-A exhibition game at Four Winds Field. (Rikk Carlson) By Max Thoma April 26, 2021
The Cubs Alternate Site team played for the final time in South Bend on Monday afternoon, beating the White Sox by a final score of 6-2.
Cory Abbott got the start and allowed just one run on four hits in his five innings of work. The right-hander from Southern California picked up the win and didn't allow a run in his final four frames.
The Cubs offense was sparked by Patrick Wisdom's two-hit game, which included a solo-homer launched over the Home Run Porch in left-center field. The rest of the offense was scattered throughout the lineup as six different players recorded at least one hit and the team managed to draw eight walks from White Sox pitchers.
Marty Pevey's squad scored at least one run in innings 4-7 to take the lead and eventually put the game out of reach. These teams are scheduled to meet two more times this week before they return to their Triple-A homes; the Cubs in Des Moines, Iowa and the Sox in Charlotte, N.C.

I know this post includes a nice positive, but I'm not feeling great about our farm system. The amount of prospects in MLB's top 100 is pretty low. We have #52, #53 and #80 - none of which impress to the point of them considered players who will produce right away. I don't see what the fuss is about Amaya. Brennan Davis' scouting report gives him all 55's and a 60 for running. He's hit well in rookie and A ball. Whoop'de-doo. Brailyn Marquez looks to have the most upside. Nothing compared to the prospects around the league. I'm not sure when our farm system will rank higher, but it's been a few years since our farm was good and there's not much to look forward to until we make some trades or get lucky with draft picks down the road. Looks like we better spend some serious money if we want to compete in the next half decade, because these farm system kids aren't going to come through anytime soon.

Davis has not played full time baseball until he was drafted, the progress he has made in such a short time since committing is really impressive. He was very raw when drafted and has developed better than hoped so far. If he has be big year he will skyrocket on the top 100 no doubt. This dude is really talented.

I guarantee you one thing. If Brennen Davis was playing right now... He'd hit better than .139

He struggled at the plate during Spring Training. I think he was in the first round of cuts.

Actually the games were live streamed on Facebook, but mostly they have been doing intra-squad scrimmages. It's no big deal since all 4 Cubs minor league teams will be streaming games on MiLB.tv next week. I'm guessing here but after looking at the roster, I think that several players are only temporarily at Tenn and Myrtle Beach because it is warm there and makes their transition from AZ will be better. I think we will see several promoted to SB and Iowa by June.

He struggled at the plate during Spring Training. I think he was in the first round of cuts. But that was pretty much expected. He was just given and opportunity be in an MLB environment relating to MLB players.
