So do we actually know if Azolay has an option?

OK, I knew it was up in the air at one point. Brendon Little was assigned to Chicago Cubs on 2/12, how'd we miss that one? I know his FB hit 99MPH at a workout. FO must be impressed to put him on the 40-man. Ryan was placed on 10-day IL 5 days after that transaction.

I thought he was for some reason, anyhow hopefully he can take a big step forward this year, getting the fastball up to 99MPH is a good sign, but now can he command it is another story.

According to the Cubs official website , he is listed on the 40 man roster. But counting the players there are 41 plus Ryan on the Covid list .

But counting the players there are 41 plus Ryan on the Covid list . that has to be an error, he was left unprotected on the RULE 5. I got confused about this yesterday because Cub.com had him on the 40, but that does not appear to be the case.

Stock was DFA to make room for Ryan. Wick will probably hit 60 day-IL to make room for Tepera's signing.

Stock had an option left, I thought he might have stuck around but Cubs bullpen depth is getting really deep which makes him more expendable I guess. Wick to the 60 day IL is likely, they pretty much hinted he is not going to be ready by opening day and intercostal issues is a serious red flag that you must be very careful with. Eventually Hoyer/Ross are going to have to make some tough decisions on Underwood, Maples and Holder as all 3 got talent but also out of options too and all 3 cannot stay as it is likely 2 will need to be traded/DFA sometime this Spring and if DFA there is no doubt all 3 will be claimed by another team if placed on waivers without a trade.

I doubt Underwood clears. Someone will pick him up and that's disappointing. I (and the Cubs) had high hopes for his live arm when he was drafted. He had a couple flashes in the majors. Good Luck, kid.

Dang. Underwood. I hope we don't release Maples. Somebody surely will pick him up and quite possibly turn him into something this team couldn't. A fresh set of eyes could work wonders for him.
Sadly I think the writing is on the wall for the same with Maples, unless he magically discovers some command.
