So I visited my parents last week, and I stayed up late drinking with my dad on the patio. We were talking about potential children's names and my dad told me that if I were a boy my name would have been Kyle. I told him that I always like the name Kyle and the middle name Ryan, but that I would have to think twice about that name now because people would think I was naming him after a random Cubs player. My dad, who is a legit Cubs fan, did not know who Kyle Ryan was. We then asked my husband (I got married btw) who is also a Cubs fan and he could also not remember Kyle Ryan. We then went on to ask probably 8-10 people who I consider to be medium to big Cubs fans and none of them remembered Kyle Ryan at all (some said they remembered after I reminded them) except my husband's friend's 10-year-old son (who chimed in unprompted). No one remembers the guy who pitched in more Cubs games than anyone else in 2019!
So my conclusions are this. I am free to name my child Kyle Ryan and the guy needs a better PR firm. Don't worry, Kyle, I remember you! (I am NOT pregnant BTW, we were just having the conversation).

Kyle Ryan was solid last year and a bright spot for the Cubs, there is nothing really exciting about him, he is just effective pitcher who gets the job done, it is not sexy but it works and easily gets overlooked especially when you come in this league with zero hype and was a career minor leaguer prior to last season.

He pitched a combined 16 innings in two of those four seasons, but in the other two was a significant contributor.
Thats the other thing! He wasn't a career minor leaguer. I thought that too but then in the course of our conversation I looked him up on baseball reference and saw he played four seasons with Detroit. And two of them he threw a combined 16 innings but he was a significant contributor in the other two. I had no idea, I honestly thought this year was his MLB debut. (And thank you).

So, if it's a girl child, she can be Kylie Rianne? Edit: Wishing you the best on the nuptials, BTW. Marrying a fellow Cub fan is a good idea.
