Jon Lester, on the dynamic of David Ross now being the one to decide when he comes out of a game: "I don't know if you guys know this but he took me out of games plenty of times.....this won't be anything new. "I've never disrespected my manager regardless of who that is." "Is that weird? Yes. But he's my boss. When he decides the game is over for me, the game is over." that's gonna be interesting. especially when Lester is not ready come out. "I don't know if you guys know this but he took me out of games plenty of times.....this won't be anything new." That is hilarious.

I think Ross is going to be 10 times better at those decisions than Maddon ever was. Eventually, there will be less pitcher complaints because they will just take for granted that Ross knows what he is doing. Remember, there was a pitching coach fired for essentially leaving Lester out there to pitch too often when he didn't have it.

That is why I feel Lester is going to have a good season. Ross knows him inside and out. Of course it's a different vantage point from the dugout than behind the plate , but he knows how to handle him mentally, how to deal with him and doesn't give a shit if he gets pissed at him. They've both admitted they've almost come to blows at times but walk away from it without personal feelings affected.

Essentially Ross has taken him out numerous times when the manager has come out & asked how it's going & all Rossy had to say is "well the such & such pitch just isn't diving anymore or his fastball isn't sharp" and he is out of the game so I believe Jon is 100% correct.

I imagine a scene like in "A League of Their Own" with Maddon, Ross, and Lester in a meeting on the mound. Maddon:"What do you think" Ross: "Well, you know, he's battling." Maddon: "WHAT DO YOU THINK?" Ross: "He's done. He's throwing grapefruits."

Rizzo says there's a big difference between the billions teams make and the millions players make. Aww puddin'. Guess nobody cares about what the fans pay to watch a game or buy their jersey. Maybe we should be worried that Rizzo is only a multimillionaire instead of a billionaire. Love the guy, but get real. Advocating that more teams should be going over the luxury tax. Where's the guy advocating for pre-arb players that produce and dont make dough? Or just shutting up and enjoying his actual millions in the bank? "Money talks". Ok, Tony. You clearly subscribe to the Reagan/Trump 'crush the little guy' economic strategy.

Well Anthony take some of those millions when you are done playing and invest in a team. For a team that finished in 3rd place, I'd like to see more focus on baseball.

They have a players union and they could fight for the pre arbitration players if they wanted but they don’t. I agree owners want o make all the money but some of it is in what they negotiate for.

I think it fairly normal to check in with the catcher for his opinion of whether the guy is done. Sometimes it just a look and a shake of the head.
