Hello to all. I’m a lifelong Cub fan who grew up on the North Side of Chicago (Irving Park & Pulaski) in the days of Banks, Santo, Williams, Jenkins, et al. I’ve been watching and occasionally posting to the other board for years, but I’m looking forward to joining a group that’s more interested in talking about the Cubs than about each other. I’ve lived in Saint Louis for 40+ years and I’m married to a Cardinal fan - that gives me a little bit of a different perspective on the “friendly rivalry” between the two teams, so that’s one of my favorite topics of conversation. It was certainly a touchy subject in my house a year ago (and it still is this year – even though my wife and I aren’t on directly opposite sides this time).
Thanks to the founders of this forum for giving us an alternative to the “official” Message Board.

Hi, my name's John aka imroc I like the Cubs, like....really really like em. I grew up in northwest indiana in a Cubs family & currently 43. Hell, my paternal grandmother grew up right by the old Comiskey park and died as a hardcore Cubs fan. Dad immigrated from Hungary & became a Yanks fan when entering NY & adopted the Cubs as well when moving to Chicagoland as a teen. I left for the military upon graduation & have been out west most of my life in Colorado & Wyoming after leaving. If I had to say when I really became a Cubs fan, it was the fall of '84 in all the playoff excitement. Hate to say, but '83 was when us region kids were excited about Ron Kittle in that team from the Southside and was a brief fan. Married 21 yrs, 7 kids (from same wife),catholic & own a small hvac biz
I've been lurking here all this season as I find the other forums kinda wacky. This place has good info & great views. I dont plan to comment much, just chillin

My name is Matthew and have been a big Chicago Cubs fan all my life. I didn't have a account over on the MLB Cubs forum but always on there reading. It seems there is to much drama over there and to much topics that has nothing to do with baseball or sports. But I have been reading posts on this site and I like it alot better then MLB. Everyone seems friendlier over here then mlb forum. And it is nice to just talk Cubs baseball or Baseball in general over here.

I would like to introduce Tonto my new avatar image to everyone. His original name was Teenie Weenie but I told my girlfriend that she was being unnecessarily disrespectful to such a handsome young man, so when I got him fixed a year ago, I officially documented his new name. So I ordered this thing from Fingerhut after the final game, it arrived tonight, and ten minutes later Tonto was napping on it after a short inspection and a cat tongue bath. I want to stress that a cat named Tonto sleeping on a Cubs raschel throw was completely uncalculated, but also completely predictable given the plushness of the item (which comes in a carrying case!!!) ...and for only 45 bucks I can buy another one or two for myself. btw, Tonto is a grandfather with a black son and grandson. His mate is now my loyal outdoor/occasional indoor babe who keeps her black ass around the house where she belongs. It would be perfect circular irony if the tag on the throw said "Made in Cleveland, OH". I bet something like this at the MLB Cubs store would be a hundred bucks, so if ya want a 60x80 fluffy thing, get it at Fingerhut.

I'm going to re-introduce myself. My name is Darrell and I recently relocated from the Denver area to Iola, WI. I'm so glad to be able to now be close enough to Wrigley to get to go to a lot more games. I'm also just a couple of hours from Miller Park and an hour from Appleton to see the South Bend when they are in town. I was able to work with my brother's realtor to buy a house I found online was able to do the entire process online from Denver... except for the actual closing. Made and offer and moved in 40 days later. I've been A Cubs fan for over 50 years and of course really enjoyed the 2016 season a lot. My brother is a recently retired dairy farmer from Wausau, WI and he recently bought a nice lake house near here. I decided to move here to be near him and his family... plus it's better for my health to not be at high altitude. Since I have been working remotely from home for several years, I can just take my job to anywhere there is a broadband connection. I became a Cubs fan because my dad was a diehard Cubs fan. He attended his first Cubs game in 1945 on his high school senior class trip and was hooked for a lifetime. Because I grew up in rural Indiana, I grew up listening to Vince and Lou on WGN since the Cubs were almost never on TV here back then. My first game at Wrigley was in 1969... attending with my junior high baseball teammates. I closely follow the Cubs minor leagues a lot and get to watch a lot of games on MiLB.TV since I pretty much work part time these days. Iola is a very small lake town of 1300... but is home to Kraus Publication which produces many sports memorabilia books and magazines.

I'm Steve. Live in Washington state, across the Columbia River from Portland, OR., but was raised in CA. in the Bay Area and lived in L.A. for 28 yrs before moving to the Pac NW. My dad was raised in Chicago and brain-washed me to become a Cubs fan since 1968. I grew up watching the Cubs whenever they came to Candlestick in S.F. and got to watch Ernie, Fergie, Billy and the boys take on Mays and McCovey. If you can't be at Wrigley, that was a decent alternative. I was on the other board for 12 years, originally as Sgt. Santo. Though I didn't post that often, I've read many, many, many threads over the years and glad to see a lot of the people who I liked back on the other board (before the troll invasion)are here now. Thanks for creating the site. I look forward to real baseball talk here. Ryno, Fergie and Don Kessinger are my all-time favorite Cubs, but Bryant, Riz and Russell are catching up fast!

Thought I might just make a thread for people to introduce, re-introduce themselves. I expect most of us to be from the Cubs MB, but I am posting it on Facebook, so there might be some new faces. Hey guys. Was wanting to post a link to a fantasy draft I'm having today at 2 pm and didn't know if something like that was allowed here.

Long time lurker, first posting. I've been a fan of this team for close to 20 years. Last year was magical and I truely didn't believe it could happen. I live in Logan Square so attend at least 3-4 games at Wrigley per year. I, generally, like the Wrigley renovations and believe it is progressive while still maintaining it's history. I use to post on the cubs.mlb board but , frankly, got burned out from all the political threads. I've watched this forum for a while and really like how it is being run.

Hi y'all, I'm Brett. Lifelong Cubs from from Memphis. Home to the aaa cardinals affiliate the Memphis Redbirds. Like anywhere, we have a collection of Cubs fans here, showing up to the Redbirds vs Iowa Cubs games. I travel to Chicago once a year or so to see games and enjoy the city.

Hi my name is Mike and am a life long Cubs fan and live in Springfield among all the rabid Cardinal fans (who have been quieter lately....but unfortunately won't go away all together). I am DurhamCubFan on the other forum (although haven't lived in Durham for 13 years but couldn't figure out how to change my screen name). I'm hoping there are more true Cubs fans on this site and less negatitivity from trolls.

Cub fan since, well . . . a long time ago. Favorite Cub game that I attended was July 2, 1967. Forever in my memory, and even rates Google mentions . Surprised I didn't have a stroke during the World Series, but finally checked something off the bucket list.

Hello Everyone!
My name is Jessica. This board was suggested by a male friend of mine. I have had some problems talking baseball on another board as a girl (to the point where I just made a name pretending I was a guy). He told me that he thought I wouldn't have issues here. Looking forward to being part of your community!

I appreciate it, although I doubt it will be necessary here. The other places I've been were pretty "bleh" in general...not the highest form of conversation
